What is MasterClass?

MasterClass is an immersive online experience that offers access to genius by allowing anyone to take online classes with the world's best. Our instructors include Christina Aguilera, Serena Williams, James Patterson, and more. These video courses are 100% exclusive - MasterClass produces the courses directly with the instructors to capture exactly what the masters want to teach.

What format do the courses take?

MasterClass is an immersive online experience. The curriculum for each MasterClass is designed by the instructor. Each class includes extensive pre-recorded video content, a class workbook, interactive assignments, and community activities. The videos are viewable at any time, and they can be paused, fast-forwarded, and re-watched as many times as you'd like. In addition, many students utilize the class discussions below each video to share their thoughts, upload their performances, and provide feedback on others' work.

How long is the course?

Each course consists of 2-5+ hours of video content. You can take the class at your own pace, so the number of weeks it takes to complete the course will vary.

Do I have to complete the course within a specific time frame?

Each MasterClass comes with a suggested timeline, but you can complete the class at your own pace. You have unlimited access to every class you purchased individually.

For classes that you enrolled in with All-Access Pass, you’ll have access to all classes until you cancel. See our Terms of Service for more information.

What does the enrollment fee include?

For classes purchased individually, unlimited access to every lesson in your course. See our Terms of Service for more information.

For classes enrolled in with All-Access Pass, you get unlimited access to every lesson in each class until you cancel.

Am I able to interact with my instructor?

Our instructors will, at times, provide feedback to students on their "office hours". They select questions they find to be most helpful for their students. We film these responses and share the follow-up feedback for all students to view.  We also sometimes host special opportunities for student participation - for example, James Patterson held a co-author competition and selected one student to write a book with him!

Which topics are covered in the class?

Each class syllabus is available on the instructor's homepage. Scroll down to the 'Lesson Plan' to see a description for each lesson in the class.

What type of device / browser do I need?

You can view classes on any internet-enabled device, in any modern browser.

Is there homework with the course?

There are suggested exercises to practice the skills being taught - but no assignments are required.

What happens after I finish the class?

You can review the course materials at any time. You can also interact with the community of other students to encourage each other to practice your craft. At times, we feature unique opportunities with your instructor - for example, we hosted a competition where one student won the chance to co-author a book with best-selling author James Patterson!

Where can I take courses from?

You can take courses anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

Can I download the videos?

No, the videos are not downloadable - but they are available in your account at any time, ready for viewing (and re-watching) at any time.

I know someone who would love this - can I give a MasterClass as a gift?

Yes! There is a 'Give as a gift' option on every class signup page.

What is your refund policy?

We offer full refunds up to 30 days after purchase.
